Patterns and colours
The spectrum of colours sparkles with red, pink, purple, yellow, blue, green, white… Cones and some of decorative materials are gathered much earlier. Some flowers look beautiful only in gardens and meadows, and, when picked, they soon lose their colour and cannot be used for decoration purposes. The majority of flowers cannot be stored for long periods of time, and, therefore, many parishioners grow them in their gardens and pick directly before they are arranged. People usually begin to collect flowers and leaves on the Sunday preceding Corpus Christi or on the following days. The materials are normally kept in cool, dim and damp places, most often in cellars, garages and barns. Everything depends on the experience and knowledge of people arranging flowers.
From the immediate vicinity
Poppies, cornflowers, daisies, tulips, lilacs… Flowers which are blooming at that very moment. Significant materials used for carpet decoration are wild flowers from the whole vicinity, coming from well-known places which have been visited for ages. In addition to that, there are leaves, twigs, ears, bark and moss.
